Deep Blue Fish 'n Chips, 749 Broadview Avenue, Toronto, ON M4K 2P6; 416.463.6789

I got a message from Sue, who says that a new fish & chips shop, called Deep Blue, has opened on Broadview just steps south of the Danforth (on the east side). They have a GF & lactose-free batter. She adds: "It looks like a separate fryer but I didn’t check it out but hope to soon."

This sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. There is a thread about this place on Chowhound, here.

I am pleased to announce that Le Cafe Vert now has house made gluten free goodies. This week: Butter Tarts, Vegan Brownie, and Bread -same as the gluten free bun that The Burger Shoppe had. All three will be regulars, and as the weeks progress, more items will be added. Also, for the first time ever, custom orders for gluten free breads, cakes, cookies, tarts and anything else you can dream up will be accepted at Le Cafe Vert. If I'm not there, my husband will be and he is quite happy to answer questions and pass along orders to me. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required. (Longer on cakes that require writing.) I hope to have all of you wonderful fellow Celiacs as happy customers. : )

We made our once a year trip to Oakville's Il Fornello's a couple of weeks ago.

A couple of things made our visit better than ever.

We went for lunch rather than dinner which seemed to mean that there was lots of gf pizza dough available (the last 3 times, no pizza dough at dinner time - which was okay but really kind of a letdown for the kids).

Next year, I'm thinking I will book our visit ahead to make sure we can definitely get that pizza though.

Kind regards,
